Tired of Getting Nowhere? Here’s the Real Reason You’re Stuck (and How to Fix It!)

Last week on the podcast, I talked about two types of action and how even a nap could be the difference between success and self-sabotage. I ended with this challenge:
What’s one thing you’ve been stuck in passive action on that you’re ready to step into massive action on?

Maybe for you it’s dating again. Or switching careers. Or finally saying yes to that thing you’ve been avoiding.
But here’s the truth: taking massive action isn’t easy. There are obstacles. Today, I want to show you three big ones—and exactly how to overcome each one.

Obstacle #1: You Aren’t Focused

Let’s be real: focus is hard. Life throws shiny objects at us constantly. Maybe you’re scrolling social media and see the latest diet trend, and suddenly you think, “Wait, maybe I need to lose weight before I date.” (Been there!) Or you decide to do it all—join a hardcore workout program and aggressively use dating apps. Then what? You get frustrated, burn out, and quit both.

The Fix: Constraint

Constraint isn’t about limiting your dreams—it’s about channeling your energy. Think of it as self-command, not self-punishment. I used to want to tackle everything at once—lose weight, grow my business, deepen my faith, and more. My coach had to lovingly sit me down and say, “You can do it all—just not at the same time.”

Constraint helped me focus on one result at a time. That doesn’t mean my life stopped except for that one thing—it means when I was focused on that one result (like working out), I gave it my full attention. Not multitasking. Not planning my grocery list mid-workout. Full focus.

Focus is a skill. Obeying your calendar? Also a skill. But with constraint, you can make real progress without burning out.

Obstacle #2: You Give Up Too Soon

Here’s how it goes: you want a result, you do some research, try something…and it doesn’t work. So you quit. Then you tell yourself, “This just isn’t for me.” Sound familiar?

Example: You try a new diet, it doesn’t work like you thought, so you give up and say, “I can’t lose weight.”
Or, you try online dating, it’s disappointing, so you give up and say, “There are no good men.”

The Fix: The Scientific Method

You’re already halfway there—you’ve defined the result you want and researched how to get it. But here’s where most people stop. When it doesn’t work immediately, they quit.

Instead, take a page from scientists. Test what works, analyze what didn’t, tweak your approach, and try again. Remember Thomas Edison? He didn’t invent the lightbulb on try #1. He kept testing and learning until it worked.

Apply that to your goals: don’t quit—adjust. That’s how results are created.

Obstacle #3: You Don’t Like How It Feels

Taking action? It’s uncomfortable. It’s hard. Scary. Embarrassing. You think, “Maybe I’m not supposed to do this.” Your brain freaks out—it wants you safe, comfy, and watching Netflix. Anything outside your comfort zone feels like danger, so your brain urges you to quit.

Also, no one really taught you how to feel your feelings. You don’t know how to feel embarrassed or scared without quitting.

The Fix: Learn to Feel Your Feelings

Most of the time, you’re dealing with so-called “negative” emotions: mad, sad, bad, afraid. But here’s the thing—those feelings aren’t bad. They’re necessary.

Think of it like this:

  • You walk the path of uncomfortable to reach accomplished

  • You walk the path of scared to reach brave

  • You walk the path of deprived to reach satisfied

You have to be willing to feel the discomfort if you want to get to the good stuff. And yes, it’s a skill. But once you learn it? Nothing can stop you—because you’re no longer afraid of your feelings.

Quick Recap:

The 3 biggest things keeping you from massive action?

  1. Lack of focus –> Use constraint

  2. Giving up too soon –> Use the scientific method

  3. Avoiding discomfort –> Learn to feel your feelings

My friend, you can create the results you want. The only question is: are you willing to overcome what’s been in your way?

Let’s go. 💥
